Layal Maallawi

I believe that education moves learners from being recipients of knowledge to becoming discoverers, researchers, and innovators. I am a Geography teacher with 15 years of experience, currently teaching at Maroun Abboud Public High School – Aley and Abadiyeh Public High School, and hold a Master’s degree in Geography from the Lebanese University. My professional development includes a Diploma in Total Quality Management, specialized training in surveying at the Meteorological Department of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, as well as training in Google Earth Engine, data analysis, and artificial intelligence in education. I integrate GIS, programming, artificial intelligence, and data analysis within STEAM to develop critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills. I received the STEAM Teacher of the Year Award in 2019 and the STEAM Excellence Award in 2025, which gave me the opportunity to participate in BETT London 2026. I have also supervised projects that earned medals at the Science Fair. I believe in continuous learning and in the power of geography to help students understand the world and create meaningful impact.

Sanaa Shehayeb

Associate Professor in Chemistry at the Lebanese University, Faculty of Sciences, with more than 10 years of experience in chemistry education and research. She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses and contributes to academic supervision and laboratory training. She also works as part-time Chemistry Teacher at MAOS High School. Her professional background combines university teaching, scientific research, international collaborations, and peer-reviewed publications, with expertise in analytical chemistry, materials science, and nanotechnology. She is proficient in English and French and is committed to making chemistry accessible and engaging for students while supporting their scientific curiosity, critical thinking, and academic development.

Sumer Malaeb

A dedicated educator with over 25 years in public high schools and 20+ years at the Lebanese University’s Language Bureau, Sumer Malaeb holds a Diploma of Higher Studies in English Language and Literature. Certified with top band scores on the Cambridge Teaching Knowledge Test (TKT) and committed to ongoing professional workshops, she serves as the English Department Coordinator at Maroun Abboud High School in Aley. Additionally, her background includes prior experience as a Senior Translator at Sleem Translation, along with her work as a co-translator and editor at Iman Malaeb’s Translation office.

Dareen Abdel Khalek

An experienced Economics educator with a strong academic background in International Economics, Banking and Finance, Dareen Abdel Khalek holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economic Sciences from Lebanese University. With extensive teaching experience since 2009, and currently teaching at Maroun Abboud Secondary School, Majdel baana Secondary School and Abdallah el Khoury Secondary School - Hammana. She teaches Economics to Grades 10, 11, and 12, presenting complex economic and financial concepts in a clear and accessible way. Her professional background also includes economics journalism, banking training, and teaching French, Arabic, and Technology.

Sociology teacher at Hussein Massoud Public High School – Bchamoun, Maroun Abboud Public High School – Aley, and Saint Joseph High School – Shweifat. I avoid rote teaching because, in my opinion, learning is better when students discover the information themselves. I believe that every student has their own way of being creative, and giving students motivation through encouragement, effective communication, and allowing them space to freely express their opinions leads them to success. I hold a Master's degree in Family Sociology from the Lebanese University, I am continuing my studies to earn a Master's in School Counseling from the Lebanese University.

Siham Al Danaf

With more than 15 years of experience, Siham Aldanaf is a dedicated Geography Teacher who has taught across several secondary schools, including Maroun Abboud Public High School in Aley, Abadiyeh Public High School, and Hussein Massoud Public High School in Bchamoun. She holds a Licence in Geography from the Lebanese University and has extensive research experience examining the impact of climate change on the extinction of marine and terrestrial wildlife in Lebanon. Her approach goes beyond presenting geography as a theoretical subject, instead introducing it as a practical and scientific field that helps students understand the world around them. Through topics such as atmospheric pressure, geology, time and temperature, latitude and longitude, and the Earth’s internal structure and layers, she encourages students to explore how and why natural phenomena occur. She places particular emphasis on developing students’ critical thinking and scientific reasoning, while helping them connect theoretical concepts with real-world observations.

Eman Shaaban

my name is Eman Shaaban, and I am an educator, university instructor, researcher, biology teacher, and coordinator with a strong passion for teaching and science education. I earned my PhD in Science Education from the Lebanese University in 2014. I currently teach at both the Lebanese University and Lebanese International University (LIU). In addition to my university teaching, I work as a Biology Teacher and Coordinator at Maroun Aboud Official Secondary School. Teaching has always been at the heart of my professional journey. I am committed to creating meaningful learning experiences, supporting students, and continuously developing my teaching practices. I strongly believe in lifelong learning and make it a priority to stay updated with current educational approaches, research, and developments in science education. I am also actively involved in research and have published more than 20 articles as an author and co-author. My academic and professional work reflects my commitment to teaching excellence, educational development, research, and continuous professional growth.

أستاذة اللّغة العربيّة وآدابها في ثانويّة مارون عبّود الرّسميّة -عاليه- منذ زهاء ستّة وعشرينَ عامًا، وحاصلة على شهادة الماجستير في الاختصاص من الجامعة اللّبنانيّة. شغلتُ موقع منسّقة المادّة قرابة سبع سنوات، حرصتُ خلالها -وما زلتُ- على متابعة التّلاميذ وتفعيل مشاركتهم في النّشاطات والمسابقات الثّقافية والأدبيّة.
وبما أنّني أحمل أمانة لغة الضّاد، فإنّ هدفي المرافق لرسالتي في التّعليم، هو غرس محبّة اللّغة العربيّة في قلوب التّلاميذ ليتقرّبوا منها ويبدعوا فيها، بعد أن باتت تعاني من هجر أبنائها لها. لذلك أحاول جاهدة تحويل حصص اللّغة العربيّة إلى حصص تفاعليّة بعيدة عن التّلقين، لتمكين التّلاميذ من إتقان المهارات المطلوبة، عبر تذوّق جماليّات لغتهم وربطها بواقعهم وأفكارهم، حتّى يعبّروا من خلالها عن عالمهم المعاصر.

She leads advanced science classes at Maroun Abboud Official Secondary School and Hussien Masoud Official Secondary School, where she specializes in curriculum delivery, student mentorship, and national exam preparation. Her professional background combines rigorous academic instruction with the integration of modern educational technology and hands-on laboratory training in chemical and life sciences. Abeer is dedicated to bridging complex biochemical theories with practical application, cultivating critical thinking, and preparing the next generation for future success in STEM fields.
