Geography
Layal Maallawi
I believe that education moves learners from being recipients of knowledge to becoming discoverers, researchers, and innovators. I am a Geography teacher with 15 years of experience, currently teaching at Maroun Abboud Public High School – Aley and Abadiyeh Public High School, and hold a Master’s degree in Geography from the Lebanese University. My professional development includes a Diploma in Total Quality Management, specialized training in surveying at the Meteorological Department of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, as well as training in Google Earth Engine, data analysis, and artificial intelligence in education. I integrate GIS, programming, artificial intelligence, and data analysis within STEAM to develop critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills. I received the STEAM Teacher of the Year Award in 2019 and the STEAM Excellence Award in 2025, which gave me the opportunity to participate in BETT London 2026. I have also supervised projects that earned medals at the Science Fair. I believe in continuous learning and in the power of geography to help students understand the world and create meaningful impact.
